The World is Sound, Life a Dance with Chachi Luna!
I will never forget my first dance class. It was summer of 92 and I wanted to try something different. “You know mom I love to move and play sports, but they are not really my thing” Like this, my passion for movement was born. I fell in love with this play and work with the body as an instrument; taking me to something that it was not quite palpable. It is as if I began a journey, and the body, my vehicle.
The journey has taken so many shapes and forms. My most recent stop, a Dance with the Lotus Temple Dancers, this past weekend at the Laughing Lotus Summit. OMG! What an explosion of energy. Laughing Lotus turned into a dispenser of ecstatic energy and the studio was vibrating at its maximum expression. The center took us on her dance, her Tandava; Lord Shivas dance, source of creation and transformation. I stepped in with the Temple Dancers just when I thought I was done with dance as a performer. The experience was so healing and pleasant. It only proves that in this dance called life we are not the ones who call the moves.
Eventually it all has to come to an end and slide into the final stage, dissolving into consummation. Just like Shiva in his Tandava moving through the cycles of creation and destruction. Yesterday was the last day of the Summit and the energy was starting to soften from the manifestation of sound, from the outer place of transformation into the unstruck sound. Sound that doesn’t need a material instrument. Space of silence were the world of senses dissolve into a place of pure energy, the energy of life.
What is life but a dance of many shapes, from ecstatic vibrations to complete stillness? Fused by sound.
Namaste and Love,
Chachi
